Please make sure - and this is very important - that you CALL me if you need a trip in the next 24 hours or less. I may be offshore and not get your email until it is too late to schedule/prepare!!!!
Remember: If you are in town for a charter with someone else and it is too rough to fish, I can take you to shark fish the beach or bay in most conditions! Save your trip - don't spend it in the hotel room!!!

Nice Inshore Wahoo - June 2012
This is a massive great hammerhead caught on June 22nd. The pictures can't do it justice, but it was at least a foot longer than the tiger shark above. I have it's hammer in my left hand, and it goes about halfway up my forearm as well. You can see how huge it's pectoral fin is and get an idea of how much girth it had in this photo, but you had to be there - the shark is actually about 3' below the rail in this pic but looks closer!!!! Ok, I'll post another one below this one! But none are good quality as everyone was a bit busy with this big, beautiful girl!!!!!
Yeah, uh....this one doesn't do her justice either! But she was well over 13' long as we measured her head to tail at 13'; but she had a considerable sag, was not sitting very still and was swimming the Miss Emily hard astern into the seas! I don't think I need to say that we needed to get her loose as quick as possible! This lovely hammer-headed lady was pulling my decent-sized diesel powered boat backwards into 2-3 foot seas, and was quite capable of ruining some company material our wounding someone! She got off with a big hook hanging and a little tired from wrestling two men and a teenage boy on a Penn 80w. But I bet the tag i sent off for this one made an impression. Especially after the huge tiger tag from exactly a month before!!
Captain Ben & Lindsay Moats from Arkansas with huge tarpon she caught.
July 20th, 2011
p.s. Hey you stool pidgeon, clueless and lifeless dorks - if this tarpon lying on the sand bothers you, we had boiled sea turtle eggs, barbequed bald eagle poppers and manatee steaks for dinner that night! Call wildlife alert about that!!!!!!! (you know who you are)
I will never remove this picture - it's a matter of principle now!!!!
p.s.s. Try looking at my about us page, where I am walking the tarpon until he swims away. You can see where he is gulping for breath in that picture if you are any bit observant! But being a bitter, limp-wristed, mal-content, and clueless know-it-all - kind of rules-out that! Huh?
Nice Smoker King July, 2013!

Adam (also from Decatur) with a very nice king mackerel. March 31st!
Shane with Big Lemon Shark - Jacob on the Rope - 9/8/11
He almost spooled my 10/0 - which holds about 600 yards of 100lb test!
(spooled means took all my line and kept going)
p.s. Hello again you government tools! Ever try removing a hook from and tagging a 10 foot long pissed-off shark in waist deep water? If not, you are welcome to come on my next shark adventure and try it for yourself! I myself will continue to do it on the beach - as I have for more than 30 years! I have even re-caught two sharks I tagged in this manner, so they appear to be none the worse for it! So mind your own freakin' business, get a life and quit calling wildlife alert on me. I am sorry that I spend most my time on the beach or offshore fishing with cool dudes & beautiful women; and the fact that your job/life is miserable and unfulfilling - don't be a hater!!!!!!!!! Wait a minute - job? What am I talking about? Tree-hugging losers don't work!
Update: this just in, on 8/17/12 I re-captured this shark fishing about 5 miles west of where I caught him almost a year before. He oddly enough survived his trip to the sand and even grew two inches! So put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!!!!!!!!!! (You can verify this with the NMFS if you'd like, his tag number is: 338368) being a lifeless, unemployed, leach of a tree hugger; I'm sure you have the time!
And NO - I am not removing any of my pictures until I darn well feel like it! Why don't you go protest on Wallstreet with the rest of the clueless, misguided losers?
Captain Ben's Extreme Charters offers a unique shark fishing experience. Captain Ben has been fishing the waters of Bay and Gulf counties since the seventies and has won and placed in many shark tournaments fishing right off the local beaches. Our prices are very reasonable compared to those offered by other charters. We will beat anyone's price, and offer just as much, and often more fishing action than the expensive offshore trips. Though we specialize in night/shark fishing, visit our Services page to see other adventure packages offered! Also dont forget to read about our methods below!!
How we Do it (Boat)
Hammerhead - 1 of 2 June 2012 caught in bay (both tagged and released)
We drive our 27 foot sportfisher several miles offshore, anchor-up or drift, turn-on the bright lights, and start chumming! Within minutes the boat is usually surrounded by squid and small fish. During this time we often fish for snapper, grouper, king mackerel, cobia and other species and put out a shark bait. You never know what might show-up or what we may catch. These are my favorite trips as they are nearly always excitement filled. As I said before, you never know what might swim-up! And the weather is usually cooler and calmer at night also!
How we do it (Beach)
Large Nurse 1 of 8 - June, 2012
In addition to fishing out of our 27 foot sportfisherman, we offer adventures fishing from the beach. Depending upon weather conditions, we fish a variety of spots ranging from those reachable by car and the more remote spots reached by boat! “You can’t catch a shark from the beach”, you say? Well we catch many sharks from the beach ranging from a few pounds to several hundred pounds. The secret to catching sharks off of the beach, is to fish areas that are infested with sharks close to the beach, and that are deep close to the shore line. We use a small boat to run the baits out and put the rods in sand spikes and sit back, have a drink or snack and wait!
If you want to sleep on some fancy yacht and be pampered, this trip is not for you! Only tough guys and girls allowed! Sharks are tough customers and they will make memories for you and stories to tell! My boat is no yacht, but it is a tough, oldschool, work horse that is perfect for serious, hard-core fishing.
Use Your Boat
We also offer packages fishing with your boat, lessons for local fishing methods and spots, and teach you local waterways and navigation.
We also tag sharks for The National Marine Fisheries. Whatever we tag on your adventure goes down in your name forever, with you listed as the angler in the international data base. You get a chance to help preserve shark populations by assisting scientists in studying their habits, growth and migration patterns.
